KRYON

Cryogenic level & mass measurement solutions

Purpose & use cases

FOGALE’s KRYON cryogenic sensing solutions are designed to provide accurate, stable, and drift-free measurements of liquid gases levels and mass, even under severe thermal and mechanical constraints.

Key objectives include:

  • Track liquid level (detection and monitoring) and usable mass in cryogenic tanks
  • Ensure safe filling, fuel usage monitoring, and energy control
  • Avoid boil-off errors, dry runs, and overfills
  • Enable calibration-free operation over long product lifespans
  • Support embedded and mobile use with minimal weight and volume impact

Architecture & key components

Capacitive cryogenic probes

  • Rigid or flexible sensing elements
  • Self-guarded, leakage-free capacitance design
  • Range: 200 mm to several meters
  • Installed inside grounded tubes
  • Typical weight: ~440 g for 1-meter probe

Electronics & signal conditioning

  • Embedded or separate electronics for direct output
  • Ultra-stable measurement across full thermal range (20K to 358K)
  • No recalibration required
  • ATEX-certified versions available

Cables & integration kits

  • Low-noise cables up to 20 meters
  • Customized interfaces for automotive, launcher, or ATEX tanks
  • Vibration and EMI-resistant configuration

Proven applications

  • Automotive LH₂ storage (OEM & consumer tanks)
  • Aerospace launchers (LHe, LOx, LCH4 cryogenic stage tanks)
  • Hydrogen-powered aircraft
  • Ground test benches for cryogenic propulsion
  • ATEX or high-pressure industrial hydrogen systems

Key Advantages

  • No capacitance leakage in sensor, cable, or electronics
  • Capacitance measured only in the active sensing zone
  • Compatible with small or large cryogenic tanks
  • Excellent mechanical tolerance to vibration and centering shifts
  • Excellent stability, even in sloshing conditions
  • Accuracy typically < ±0.5 % of tank height
  • Designed for real-world lifetime stability (10+ years)

Services Available

  • Probe length and geometry adaptation
  • On-site or remote technical support
